This year, award-winning South African rapper K.O celebrates 10 years since the release of his debut album, Skhanda Republic.

‘Times flies, and we still blessed. Gotta celebrate this right,” expressed the rapper.

Speaking to My Top 10 at 10 with Tbose in 2023, K.O delved into the creation of his Skhanda Republic hit Cara Cara.

“As soon as I have an idea that I need to create a certain record that I know will probably break all records, I manifest it, and then the song falls on my lap. Before I even record it, I tell the guy, This is it, gents. It doesn’t happen to everyone. It’s like a lightbulb moment. With Cara Cara, I told the guys that this is the one that is going to break the barriers.”

Having maintained relevance in the music industry for nearly two decades, K.O shared the secret to his longevity.

“The reason I am still here is because I started looking at it like a corporation. I am no longer just an artist. I need to listen to the people that came behind me to make sure that I understand the future. There are a lot of people who are younger than myself. It is important to have a keen desire to learn from the younger ones and the older ones. In any line of business, learn every day.”
