Bujy Bikwa is sharing his side of the story following his physical altercation with Boity last week. The media personality has released a lengthy statement detailing his version of events.
A picture of Boity covered in blood after the altercation surfaced online on Thursday. Audio from the night was also leaked.
According to several reports, Bujy allegedly threw a bottle of alcohol at Boity during the incident. A bottle can be heard shattering in the leaked audio.
Boity confirmed that she opened a case of assault following the “vicious physical altercation”. Bujy has since appeared in court. He was granted R2,000 bail.
The radio presenter says he has “been through the most rough, emotional and difficult time” over the past few days.
“In no way do I condone such behaviour and actions that occurred on the night, however, I feel victimised as I was not given the opportunity to relay my side of the story,” he wrote in a statement.
Bujy says he tried to reach out to the “complainant” without success after the incident.
“I have been accused of GBV, which in no way sits well with me, as I have been labelled as an abuser – which I am not – and it saddens me to see how this has spiralled out, with people believing and siding with one side of a story.”

Bujy says he was kicked and punched during the altercation.
“I was verbally abused… Furthermore, during a verbal confrontation, I was then physically assaulted, being kicked and punched, while being told that (’I’m a man, I’m a man’) I must take it.
“The pain and suffering of having to let a woman abuse me verbally and physically, while trying to contain myself, and holding her hands to stop was not enough, until witnesses managed to defuse the situation,” he continues.
Bujy has since deleted the statement. He posted another statement on his Instagram Story.
While some social media users have come to Bujy’s defence after listening to the audio, many have called for him to face the full might of the law.
“What Bujy did is very wrong He deserves to go to jail #JusticeForBoity,” Twitter user, @Moikabi_M, said.

Singer Denise Zimba has also joined #JusticeForBoity calls.
“We all got things we need to work on. We have issues/situations we need 2 confront within ourselves. MARA NOTHING GIVES ANYONE THE RIGHT TO PHYSICALLY ATTACK ANOTHER PERSON! It’s insane, & bad behavior that needs be accounted for,” she tweeted.

Another Twitter user says there is no defence for how Bujy reacted.
“The fact that some of you are justifying why Bujy assaulted Boity shows we still have a long way to go as a country. Bujy a man assaulted Boity, he injured her. He should be cancelled,” wrote @Chosen_Darkie.
