South African actress Motsoaledi “Mo” Setumo recently joined Mapaseka “Pasi” Koetle for a heartfelt conversation on her podcast, The Mommy Diaries.

When asked about her life on set, Motsoaledi opened up about her struggles, revealing that she has been unemployed for some time.

“It’s been a while, Pasi. I’ve been unemployed for quite some time,” she shared, fighting back tears. “I’ve been home. Ke jika lele tsatsi. I’ve just been at home.”

Pasi empathised with Motsoaledi’s situation, offering words of wisdom from her own experience in the industry.

“One thing I’ve learned in our line of work is that passion alone isn’t going to bring us the wealth we desire. That’s a fact, and that’s the truth. It’s always about who’s hot and who’s not,” Pasi said.

Despite the challenges, Motsoaledi remains hopeful. She revealed that she and a friend are collaborating on something “beautiful”, hinting at exciting projects on the horizon.

Motsoaledi Setumo, a talented South African radio producer and actress, is best known for her recurring role as Thabitha Cele in the SABC1 soap opera Generations: The Legacy.

From 2016 to 2017, she starred as Tselane Dlamini in the Mzansi Magic telenovela Greed & Desire. The following year, she took on the recurring role of Mmabatho in the popular Mzansi Magic soap opera The Queen.

Two years ago, Setumo added another notable role to her repertoire, playing Tshidi in Showmax’s hit series The Wife.
