Gospel singer Kelly Khumalo has responded to being dropped from the lineups of two events over the past week.
Not mincing her words, Kelly took to her Instagram to share that she remains unphased by the negative publicity she’s received recently amid allegations that she may have been implicated in the murder of her ex-boyfriend, footballer, Senzo Meyiwa.
This after a cellphone analyst revealed Kelly may have been in contact with one of the men accused of murdering Meyiwa, in what the State is calling a botched home invasion.
Kelly Khumalo allegedly received two calls from accused No.5, Sifisokuhle Nkani Ntuli, days before Meyiwa was gunned down at the Khumalos’ family home in Vosloorus.
Cellphone data proved the number belonged to Kelly, noting the two occasions the calls came through on 02 August 2014, and then again on 15, October 2014.
Due to social media comments and calls for the Empini hitmaker “to be cancelled”, Kelly was dropped from a Woman’s Tribute concert at Emmarentia in August, and from the Maseru Jazz Music Festival.
While management from both events acknowledge the singer is innocent until proven guilty, backlash from the general public has left the above events’ organizers with little choice but to relieve Kelly from her obligation to perform.
This has done little to dissuade the mother of three however, and she’s since shared her personal event, Women’s Day Soul Therapy concert, which will take place at Musieville stadium, this Saturday, 05 August.
Taking to Instagram, the singer stated regardless of who comes, she will continue doing what she loves doing.
“Abahambe Abahambayo sosala siyincenga,” which means, “Those who want to leave will leave, those who want to stay will stay, either way, I stay pushing!”
