Actress and singer Nelisiwe Sibiya has shared that she left her fiancé, gospel singer Ayanda Ntanzi because he was holding her back.
The Durban Gen actress was speaking to Lungelo KM on his YouTube podcast, Engineer Your Life. During the interview, Nelisiwe said that there are no hard feelings between her and Ayanda and the two remain friends.
However, their relationship didn’t work because the “strict” religious singer was too controlling and held her back in her career.
“He would get upset if I had to kiss another man on-screen. Without understanding that it’s just a role and I have to do these things because it’s my job. In a way, he really held me back and it was only after I left him that my career soared. Literally we broke up and 3 days later I got the call that I got the gig on Durban Gen.”

Nelisiwe started dating Ayanda in University and broke up with him in 2019.
She says a difference in religious beliefs was why she chose to end things, saying they were never going to make things work.
“I’d never marry a weak man, I would never marry a man who feels like I overpower him.”
The actress who is rumoured to be dating Robert Marawa, laughed off the rumours, saying they’re just friends.
“I am not dating Robert, I don’t know where this is coming from. We are friends, he’s an amazing man but we are not dating.”
