Skeem Saam issues warning to South Africans

Katlego Sekhu

Popular South African drama, Skeem Saam, issues a warning to South Africans about fake auditions circulating on social media, falsely claiming to be legitimate opportunities.

The production has clarified that it does not hold open auditions, cautioning aspiring actors and actresses to be vigilant against scams and fraudulent claims on social platforms.

Created by Winnie Serite and the Department of Education, Skeem Saam revolves around the lives of Turfloop’s residents, as they confront daily trials and tribulations in their pursuit of success. The storyline also explores the challenges faced by the affluent community in Johannesburg, showcasing how they navigate the complexities of their businesses. Additionally, it portrays the lives of both the wealthy and less privileged inhabitants of Turfloop.

The show’s immense popularity has been evident, as it achieved a significant milestone in April of this year. Skeem Saam surpassed Generations to become the second most-watched soapie in South Africa, trailing only behind Uzalo. During its peak in April, the drama garnered an impressive 4.3 million viewers, surpassing Generations’ viewership of 4.1 million in the same month.
