Trevor Noah to step down as host of The Daily Show

By Katlego Sekhu

Trevor Noah announces his decision to step down as host of The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.

Trevor joined The Daily Show seven years ago, taking over from the legendary John Steward, who was at the helm for 16 years.

“I realised that after seven years my time is up and in the most beautiful way. Honestly, I loved hosting this show. It’s been one of my greatest challenges, it’s been one of my greatest joys.”

Trevor shares that after seven years, he feels it’s time to step aside.

He notes that after the pandemic, he realised that he missed going out and exploring.

“I miss being out there, I miss learning other languages. Going to other countries and putting on shows.”

The comedian is grateful to everyone who has shown him love and support over the years.

“I’m really grateful to the productions who believed in this random comedian nobody knew on this side of the world. South Africans knew me (laughs).”

Trevor will remain on the Daily Show until a new host is announced.
