Kenyan comedian Elsa Majimbo has deleted a TikTok video she posted in which she claims she was blackballed in the industry by supermodel Naomi Campbell.
Elsa who gained popularity in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic by posting “quarantine comedy” videos, said she is no longer on speaking terms with Campbell who threatened to sue her.
This was over an idea for a documentary that Campbell had suggested the 19-year old Elsa put together about her life in Kenya.
According to Elsa, Campbell who introduced her to several people in the film documentary business, was livid after she found out that the comedian had screened a documentary about her life at the Tribeca Film Festival in March 2022.
While Elsa claimed the documentary was not born from the pitch Campbell had made her, the 22-year old said she was shocked to hear the Campbell was going around telling people that she had “made” Elsa Majimbo.
Although she has since deleted the video, Elsa said she stands by her words and says despite what happened with Naomi Campbell, she believes she will still make it big.
“I stand by my words. Content in my decision. The tweets are deleted due to seeking peace, not fear. Yall need to understand this is something that has happened since I was 19. My goal now is happiness.”
Naomi obviously never force fed me alcohol. The situation led to the action. My action. As I said, my part was played and responsibility is mine
