A listener shares that he recently travelled back home as they had a family funeral. After the burial, he and his cousins decided to go out partying well into the night. Unfortunately, he lost his phone, and his girlfriend couldn’t reach him. She tried contacting his family members and finally got in touch with his mother.
Unfortunately, their call didn’t go well, as the mother called her off as she had not met her before. Upset by this, she told him to ask his mother to apologise to her.
Anonymous, however, understands where his mom was coming from, as they have not formally met. Reaching out to The Best T in the City with Tbose, Anonymous wants to know if there are any blind spots she could be missing.
“Last week I went home because we had a family funeral and after the funeral, I and my homeboys decided to go out. I didn’t tell my girlfriend as I didn’t think we would be long, but we overdid it and in the process, I lost my phone.
“My girlfriend in her panic in-boxed one of my cousins and asked for my mother’s numbers. She called my mother to ask about my whereabouts and my mom told her off. No one at home knows my girlfriend so my mother felt she was being too forward, and she told her.
“My girlfriend was hurt which is understandable but again I asked her why she didn’t at least call me best friend as he would know what to do. She is angry and says I should call my mother to order but stand with my mom, she didn’t have to call her but also what will I say to my mother? I mean my mother also told me off when I got back home so saying anything will aggravate her even more.
“If it weren’t for the funeral, I was planning on introducing my girlfriend to my mother. But I feel the incident will start these two on a bad foot. I want to wait it out, though I don’t know for how long Is my girlfriend’s judgment something I should worry about going forward? Is it something I can work on? This has made me see her differently. Or is this me being a mommy’s boy?”
