TV Producer, Director & Founder of Sothar Pictures, Ziphozonke Majola joins Gugulethu Mfuphi on Kaya Biz to restore hope, normalize failure and reassure the youth of today, that NO, you don’t have to be successful by 30.

While he may now be at a comfortable space in life, Majola shares that his journey as an entrepreneur wasn’t all sunshine and roses.

There was a point when the young entrepreneur wasn’t sure if he was on the right path, and it took failure to push him into starting his own business.

“It’s interesting that you say that because those things, they come and go. I owe the listeners to be frank and open, I had my fair share of being up there and enjoyed quite a bit of what some would call success, material things.

But I have also been at the point where my car was almost repossessed twice.

So, I went to film school, all I wanted to do was just do TV. Then in 2009, the recession hit, I left my work because I got this lucrative contract. I wanted to then pursue entrepreneurship, just got this lucrative contract, then recession, so I was forced to start a production company.

And I think, this is something the youth of today need to hear, sometimes circumstances will force you to become an entrepreneur.”

Majola says it’s critical for ongoing development and continuing learning and success to learn from mistakes and to use failure as motivation for your next step.

He tells Gugulethu Mfuphi that it’s important for the youth to eliminate their fear of failure and to normalize struggling, because nothing in life comes easy.
