Mihlali Ndamase has bagged a role in a new local movie called ‘Boxing Day’. The award-winning influencer has a small part in the movie which is currently streaming on Showmax.
The movie stars Zola Nombona, Hamilton Dlamini, S’thandiwe Kgoroge and newcomer Phumlani Magadla.
Black Brain Films co-founder Mandla N directs the film.
‘Boxing Day’ tells the story of a family trying to bury their grandmother. They decided to kidnap a government minister and his wife to raise money for the funeral.
“Unable to afford to bury their gogo, Vele and her hot-headed younger brother become amateur kidnappers on Christmas Day, taking a government minister hostage in exchange for ransom money that they want to use to be able to celebrate her life and give her a fitting farewell,” the movie’s synopsis reads.
Mihlali is excited to be part of the movie.
“Your girl landed a role in a movie,” she tweeted.

‘Boxing Day’ is not Mihlali’s first acting role.
The 25-year-old also had a cameo in ‘Rhythm City‘.

The YouTube sensation’s role on ‘Boxing Day’ has been met with some criticism. Many social media users said giving her the role is “unfair to qualified actors”.
“I wish people who are talented and actually trained for roles like these would get them,” one Twitter user wrote.
Another user added: Kids are going to AFDA for nothing.”
A third person wrote: “Pretty privilege will never be matched.”
