Wish on Florida to close its doors with “The Last Supper” after AKA’s murder

Wish On Florida, the restaurant that slain rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes was gunned down at, will be closing its doors on 10 April.

The restaurant will be hosting what it calls, “The Last Supper” due to a severe downturn in business since the rapper was killed on its doorstep.

In a statement issued on Monday, 03 April, Wish On Florida said its directors were left with no choice but to close the business permanently.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the imminent closure of Wish On Florida effective 10 April, where we will be hosting ‘The Last Supper.’

In light of the recent tragic event on our doorstep, we have experienced a severe downturn in business.”

AKA and his friends had supper at the popular Florida Road hangout spot in Durban a few hours before two gunmen walked up to the group and shot at the rapper execution-style.

The rapper died on scene, and before his tragic passing, tagged the restaurant in his Instagram stories.

Wish On Florida was a “wish come true” for two black entrepreneurs who dedicated the last three years to building a successful black-owned restaurant in Durban.

The restaurant went on to win the Emerging Tourism Entrepreneur Award at the Durban Tourism Business Awards in 2022.

Wish On Florida’s final event is perceived as an ode to AKA, and the restaurant has invited the public to join in on their “Last Supper.
