Politician Mmusi Maimane and DJ Shimza were involved in a mini twar on Tuesday. The drama started when the Eastern Cape’s Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality unveiled its R15-million “stadium”.
Many questioned if officials really spent millions on the Lesseyton Sports Facility, which looked “low budget”.
“Trust the ANC officials to buy stadium benches from Takealot and call it a stadium,” one tweep wrote.

Athi Geleba – Head of Digital Communications in the Presidency – seemingly tried to justify the amount spent on the stadium.
“Palisade fencing. Rock blasting. Earthworks. Layer works. Rugby & soccer field. Athletics track. Ablution facilities. Changerooms. Borehole. Water reticulation installation. Sewer system. Sceptic tank,” she tweeted.

Mmusi was less than impressed and told Athi that she was “defending a crime scene that we can all see”. Shimza entered the chat and hell broke loose.
“Aowa!!!” he replied to Athi’s tweet. Mmusi joked: “Even Shimza can’t spin these turntables.”

The innocent exchange turned ugly when Shimza shared some secondhand information.
“This one aikhona, I’m seeing a lot of engineers and people who work in construction saying it’s actually possible but people must account for clarity.”
Mmusi was not buying it.
“I understand why you have to soften the blow. From my experience this project definitely did not come close to R15 million.”

Shimza questioned if Mmusi knew anything about construction. Mmusi then pointed out that he has been involved in construction projects, and knows what he is talking about.
I have been involved in construction projects, I have done financial oversight on several construction projects.
Maybe you just know me from twitter streets but I have extensive experience with PFMA and MFMA from my prior and current jobs.
It’s a very overpriced project.

Things escalated further, with Shimza’s bae catching smoke.
“Message your bae. Send flowers. No one forced you to enter this chat. I have a masters in Economics, while you were entering DJ competitions I was working in public office, I know what I am talking about. Bottomline, the project did not cost R15 million. There is no spin room,” Mmusi told Shimza.
Shimza reminded Mmusi that he has six successful businesses and can never be fired.
“And one relationship that you are about to be,” Mmusi replied.
Shimza clapped back: “With a beautiful BLACK female because I don’t aspire to whiteness.”
Mmusi, who is married to a white woman, caught Shimza’s shade and couldn’t resist another spicy comment.
“You aspire to tenders. Send your bae flowers.”
Shimza once again reminded Mmusi that he has several businesses and doesn’t need tenders. For the grand finale, Mmusi came through with some receipts.
He reminded Shimza about the time government hosted a controversial celebrity cook-off at his restaurant, The Hang Awt.

While trying to defend himself, Shimza implied that the Department of Tourism contravened the Public Finance Management Act by not following due process when procuring the venue for their event. They just told him they want a place and he accepted the booking. Just vibes.😂
